We learned late last week that a “water park” has been proposed for the Harrison Square project:
“The public park will sit outside the ballpark’s outfield and serve asan amenity during games. At other times, it will be open to the public and offer a small amphitheater with benches and a water park, similar to the one at Headwaters Park, according to Al Moll, parks director. It will also have some open green space.
He said the project is estimated to cost between $500,000 and $550,000, but it will be financed primarily by a private donor. He said the private money has been promised, but the name of the donor – and the park – will not be released until later.
The water park was originally planned for Lawton Park, but Moll said the city decided to move it into the Harrison Square project.”
I didn’t realize a water “spray” park was being considered for Lawton Park as Mr. Moll indicated. Many including me will be interested in seeing the proposal.
I trust the City doesn’t believe it can placate resident requests for a “regional tourist attraction” with a “spray” park similar to Headwaters. The final plan by North River Now! suggested a “90,000 square foot indoor waterpark” (see page 17). Certainly no water park on this scale could be built for the $500-550,000 amount proposed.
I applaud the fact that the Harrison Square water park will be financed primarily by a private donor. Let me be among the first to express my thanks to the generous benefactor.

There’s been plans for a “Splash pad fountain” as far back as August 2nd and maybe even further.
Check this picture.
It just seems that the water feature has taken over the area and the kid’s diamond won’t be a feature as far as I know.
Thanks for the clarification, Scott.
