I’ve added an Enhanced Skateboard/BMX Park section to the site.
To make room for the Nightlife Boardwalk, I envision moving the existing skate park to the north end of Lawton Park where the Fort Wayne Parks Dept. greenhouses are presently housed. Bicentennial Park lies to the south.
To enhance the area for “tweeners,” teens and young adults, I propose adding an indoor arena for year-round use. Obstacles
can be modified to include BMX and inline skating as well. Enthusiasts may continue to use the outside facility free of charge. Because the indoor arena would be run by a developer/owner, this attraction would carry an admission fee. Skate & BMX enthusiasts design the obstacles, while local artists paint the graffiti walls. Fort Wayne could potentially host national skateboard and BMX competitions.
Additional features in the area could include: a pro shop, paintball and laser tag, miniature golf, arcades, and seasonal carnival rides like Monster & Tilt-a-Whirl.
Any other ideas from you skateboard/BMX enthusiasts out there to make the park your own?
