I’ve just added to the site my vision for a Nightlife Boardwalk on the north bank 
of the St. Mary’s River just south of Lawton Park. The area is conveniently located near Three Rivers Apartments (where many singles, couples, and young professionals live), as well as Club Soda and Hall’s Gas House across the river.
I’ve heard so many people complain that Downtown Fort Wayne closes at dusk and residents are left with nothing to do when the sun sets. Let’s change that attitude in a dramatic way.
I envision a boardwalk elevated above the floodplain to allow continued seasonal flooding of Lawton Park. I see this as the place to host upscale restaurants, nightclubs, coffee houses and cafes, dessert bars and more. Visitors may experience several hotspots, take a sky ride over Headwaters Park, or enjoy an adult beverage or coffee in a two-tiered Riverboat Pavilion, all in the same evening.
I ate at the open air area of Hall’s last night. What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the river. This is what riverfront improvemnet should be, not slapping up concrete walls and levees and hiding the rivers.
